Mary loves calling these “old lady cookies”. No nuts, no chocolate and not much else. I won’t tell her but in about ten years, she’s gonna love’ em. They are great, keep forever and just the thing you need to dunk in tea or whatever. Mary, I really know you’re going to make these for me.
Ingredients
6cupsflour
1cupsugar
1¼tbspbaking powder
3eggs
½cupmilk
½lblard, melted
1tbspvanilla
1lbtoasted sesame seeds
Instructions
Mix dry ingredients, except sesame seeds
Add eggs, milk, melted lard and vanilla
Mix well and shape into long rolls about 1/2inch thick
Using a pastry brush and water, brush logs well and roll in sesame seeds
Cut into 2 inch long pieces ande on ungreased cookie sheets in the middle of a preheated 375° oven for 18-20 minutes until golden
Notes
I had to cut this recipe down, no one wants to work with 12 cups of flour. Add 5 cups of flour to start, keeping one-cup aside. You can knead in the last cup; the dough may not take it all.
