Chruscki
These little fried bow knots were so good. My mother really had the knack for them. You need to have the whiskey or rum so they blister when they fry. Sprinkled with confectioners sugar they are special.
Ingredients
- 6 egg yolks
- 3 T. sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 3 T. cream
- 1 jigger rum or whiskey
- 1 1/4 cup flour
- dash of salt
Instructions
- Beat egg yolks until thick and lemon colored.
- Add salt, vanilla, sugar cream and whiskey.
- Work until dough is firm and smooth.
- Roll out very thin.
- Cut into strips with ends on the diagonal, about 1 1/2" wide and 4" long
- Cut a slit in the middle and pull one end through like a ribbon.
- Fry in hot peanut oil or canola oil 360° until golden.
- Drain on paper towels and sprinkle with confectioners sugar.
- These store well in an airtight container.
